FAQ / What is the meaning of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ?
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a central component of the Christian faith.
It is the belief that God Almighty raised Jesus Christ from the dead on the third day after His crucifixion on Calvary's Cross, and as a result, gained victory over sin, death, and the grave. It also declares Jesus as Lord. (Acts 2:29-39, 17:30-31)
In (John 19:31), it is written that Jesus was crucified on Friday, 14 of Nissan "Hebrew Calendar). (Mark 16:2) says that Jesus rose from the grave Sunday morning before sunrise. After His Resurrection, Jesus went to His Father to present Himself as our First fruits.
Paul refers to Jesus as our First fruits in (1 Corinthians 15:20-23): "But Christ has indeed raised from the dead, the First fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as Adam, all die, so in Christ, all will be made alive. But each in his turn. Christ, the First fruits, then when He comes those who belong to Him." Jesus was the first to be raised into a new resurrection body, never to die again. The good thing about the word "First first" is that "first" means that if there is a first, then others will follow- Hopefully, that includes you! See, Jesus' Resurrection is the promise of the future Resurrection of believers because He represented the many that shall come after Him. (John 5:28-29)
Jesus' death on the Cross is said to have taken on humanity's fallen nature, destroying it forever as it destroyed the power of Satan, death, and freed people from the fear of death and the control of sin. "But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:57)
The Good News is that, God has given us victory because Jesus has defeated sin through His perfect Life. He dies for our sins and rises from the dead three days later, destroying the power that death has, thus allowing believers to have Resurrection Life...Eternal Life! (Romans 6:3-5,23,8:23; Ephesians 1:18-20; Corinthians 15:18; 1 Peter 1:3; John 11:25)
This is important because, In resurrecting Jesus from the grave, God demonstrates His absolute Sovereignty over Life and death, " Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in Me will live even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die.
Do you believe this?" (John 11:25)
Jesus is still asking the question today,
My friend, do YOU believe this?
