Faith

The faith that every believer must maintain is defined in (Hebrews 11:1-3) and illustrated in (Hebrews 11:4-40). The triumphs and accomplishments of faith in the lives of Old Testament believers should encourage us to pursue "something better" (Hebrews 11:40) in Christ, to look "unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2).

What is Faith
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).

(Hebrews 11) is often referred to as the "Hall of Faith" as it recounts the "Heroes of Faith" found in the Bible. When taking a deeper look into their lives, we see a list of tested and tried individuals—human beings enabled to display acts of faithfulness by trusting in God and obeying Him in the most challenging situations..

The depth of knowledge of God's nature and character displayed by these faithful individuals serves as a true reminder that when we know God and trust Him, His glory will be revealed in and through us. God enables us to reflect His glory as we walk in faithful trust, and the lives of these heroes tell that story.

The profile of the Faithful
The faithful trust in God as the Creator as they worship Him from the heart. They live to please God, choosing suffering over sin and forsaking the world for God's pleasure.

The faithful confidently place their trust in God's word and live without fear. They obediently follow, even if they find themselves standing alone, even in the face of death.

The faithful look ahead to the reward of the next life, filled with desire for a Heavenly country. The faithful endure the end.
